Free Home Inventory Spreadsheet Template
A clean CSV template with the exact columns insurers ask for. It works in Excel and Google Sheets, and unlike most templates, it has an upgrade path: every row imports straight into StowFindSell whenever you're ready.
What's in the template
Twelve columns, three sample rows to copy from, and nothing you have to configure. Here's what each column is for:

| Description | Condition, color, anything a claim adjuster would ask. |
| Category | Electronics, Furniture, Tools & Equipment, and so on. |
| Location | Room or container. Becomes a real Location on import. |
| Quantity | Defaults to 1 if you leave it blank. |
| Estimated Value | What it's worth today. Dollar signs are fine. |
| Purchase Price | What you paid. Useful for insurance and taxes. |
| Brand / Model / Serial Number | The proof columns. Fill these for anything expensive. |
| Owner | Whose item it is, for shared households. |
| Tags | Separate with semicolons: winter; camping; sentimental. |
How to fill it out without losing a weekend
- Go room by room, and within a room, shelf by shelf. Our step-by-step home inventory guide covers the full method.
- Prioritize the expensive stuff. Electronics, appliances, tools, and jewelry get full rows with serial numbers. The junk drawer can wait.
- Estimate values roughly. Close is good enough for most items; precision matters only at the top end.
- Save it somewhere safe. A spreadsheet that burns with the house helps nobody. Keep it in the cloud.
